Where there’s a problem, we have a
solution.
Read this case study, and see
how we helped this software organization reclaim the
loyalty, talent and commitment of its employees.
Project Objective:
Engage employees
in order to retain them as satisfied, productive employees.
The
Problem:
Change breeds dissatisfaction
Over
a five-year period, a software company was experiencing
significant changes in leadership and ownership. As a
result, the atmosphere at work had grown chaotic, creating a
scenario all too familiar in today’s work environment:
disengaged employees and rampant dissatisfaction.
Even though employees
were clear about their goals and how to reach them, they had
lost their motivation to achieve them. They no longer
identified with the company and had no emotional engagement with
its mission. While at this point turnover was not a
concern, management knew that as soon as the economy improved,
many employees would leave. We assessed the turnover
costs, looked into the causes and put into place solutions to
reduce the potential for turnover.
The
Solution:
Leadership
+ Employees
We started by working
with senior leadership and connecting them with the program
objectives. Next, we met with employees, administering
an employee-opinion survey to measure their engagement with the
company. Each item on the survey correlated directly with
specific bottom-line results, such as productivity,
profitability, employee retention and customer satisfaction
surveys.
Motivation and commitment training
We presented an
optional training program on motivation and commitment to all
employees. This seven-week program includes a
two-hour session each week to help participants
-
understand their strengths.
-
create their personal mission.
-
link their personal mission to their role in the
organization.
-
create a personal development plan.
This
training is designed to help people clarify their personal
aspirations and to discover what makes their hearts sing.
Next, we help them link those feelings to their role in the
organization so they can feel good about and motivated by
their jobs. The organization also benefits because happy
employees are far more likely to give that extra effort that
will help the company to excel.
Before and after
Before the training
program, participants completed the opinion survey.
At the end of the program, they took the survey again. We
analyzed their responses for improvement and presented senior
leadership with a report.
The
Results:
Measurable results
At the conclusion of
the program, employees felt more engaged in and motivated about
their organization. Results included:
-
Every employee opinion improved a minimum
of 10 percent.
-
Employee opinions correlated directly with
employee retention improved 17 percent.
-
Opinions correlated with profitability
improved 15 percent.
-
Opinions correlated with productivity
improved 14 percent.
-
Opinions correlated with customer
satisfaction surveys improved 13 percent.
