Lisa Edwards, M.S.
President, Bloom Consulting, Inc.
Lisa brings both the entrepreneur’s spirit and the corporate executive’s discipline to Bloom Consulting, Inc. (Bloom). Bloom, which she founded in 2001, is Lisa’s third business. Her experience in starting and developing these businesses helps her understand the challenges of—and the solutions for—creating a work environment that is motivating, reassuring and valuing for everyone.
Lisa also serves as Director, Global Learning and Development at Corbis, where she is responsible for developing Corbis’ managers and leaders across 16 countries. From the corporate side, she appreciates the issues senior management faces and understands the need for both long-term and short-term results.
Prior to founding Bloom, Lisa was a strategic business consultant and worked with young, high-growth oriented businesses. Her consulting work focused on business development and included market research, strategic market development and implementation of marketing tactics. In addition, Lisa taught human relations to college students.
In 1994, prior to consulting, Lisa co-founded a poster publishing company that repositioned her family’s printing firm, where she had worked in human resources for 12 years. She successfully created strategic alliances and facilitated the development of the business to a position of stability, growth and international distribution.
Lisa will complete her coaching certificate from The Hudson Institute in 2006 and is the President of the American Society for Training and Development - Puget Sound chapter. Lisa’s formal education includes a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana and a Master of Science degree in Psychology from Southern Methodist University.

Jack Phillips, Ph.D.
As a world-renowned expert on measurement and evaluation, Dr. Jack J. Phillips is a Senior Consultant with Bloom and chairman of the ROI Institute. Through the Institute, Phillips provides consulting services for Fortune 500 companies and workshops for major conference providers throughout the world. Phillips is also the author or editor of more than 30 books and more than 100 articles.
His expertise in measurement and evaluation is based on more than 27 years of corporate experience in five industries (aerospace, textiles, metals, construction materials, and banking). Phillips has served as training and development manager at two Fortune 500 firms, senior HR officer at two firms, president of a regional federal savings bank, and management professor at a major state university.
His background in training and human relations (HR) led Phillips to develop the ROI Process—a revolutionary process that provides bottom-line figures and accountability for all types of training, performance improvement, human resources, and technology programs.
Books most recently authored by Phillips include Managing Employee Retention: A Strategic Accountability Approach, In Action: Retaining Your Best Employees, How to Measure Training Results; The Human Resources Scorecard; HRD Trends Worldwide: Shared Solutions to Compete in a Global Economy; Return on Investment in Training and Performance Improvement Programs; Handbook of Training Evaluation and Measurement Methods, 3rd edition; and Accountability in Human Resource Management. Phillips is series editor for the American Society for Training and Development’s In Action casebook series and serves as series editor for Butterworth-Heinemann’s Improving Human Performance series.
Phillips has undergraduate degrees in electrical engineering, physics, and mathematics from Southern Polytechnic State University and Oglethorpe University, a master’s degree in decision sciences from Georgia State University, and a Ph.D. in human resource management from the University of Alabama.
